Using your Interactive Whiteboard

A great place to get started with using your Promethean IWB is the site Promethean Learning. Here you can access interactive videos that take you step by step through the basics of using your board right up to the intermediate stages of using it with other applications and using tools such as the eraser and reveal.

I’ve taken the course and it’s the best resource I can find for getting to grips with your IWB. There is an ActivPrimary and ActivStudio course, both of which are free.

To begin, all you need to do is register and enrol on the Level 1 Foundation course and then you can access the resources anytime by logging in and selecting ‘my courses’.

The CLC also has some free resources we have created for activstudio3. They are in PDF form.

Interactive Whiteboard Tips on TeacherTube

This is a useful resource from Teachertube with tips and tricks on using Activstudio and Activote in the classroom. There’s some useful tips on how to change the background colour of a flipchart and how to insert images.

There are also some more advanced tips which are interesting such as how to use two activpens on a board to encourage collaborative learning and problem solving and creating a timeline.
